Pictorial Sino-Korean Characters contains various aids for students of written Korean, particularly the Sino-Korean characters known as Hancha or Hanmun.

This specialized vocabulary includes the origin, etymology, historical classifications and signification of each word. It systematically introduces the radical elements and their compounds, together with related or associated characters. Each character is accompanied by a chart demonstrating the proper way to write it and the evolution of pictographs.

This book presents the first 1,800 essential characters prescribed by the Ministry of Education as the minimum requirement for middle schools through high schools throughout Korea.
